June 1st 2010, Terramundi Theatre presents by Kevin Dodd - 15:35 on 01 June 2010
Creetown primary school enjoyed a full day of activities and puppet show entitled "Conquerors of the Floods" an interactive shadow puppet show based on an ancient Chinese legend. A group of animals have to co-operate in order to save the world from flooding. The children were engaged immediately when they were given active parts as the creatures and given their character profile. This created exciting anticipation. During the performance the children were actively involved using the rain makers and shouting out their character slogans. Afterwards they discussed the show, its relevance to the Carbon Busters programme and how the show was created including the recycled materials that are used to create the puppets and the stage. This was followed by workshops making stage props for all classes. The day finally ended with all classes coming together to provide a play for the teachers.
